This NY Times article by Frank Bruni offers great advice to launch your college career. The key points are:
- Find a Mentor, faculty or other
- Get involved in a sustained academic project
- Play a significant part in a campus organization
You don’t have to do this all during your freshman year, but instead thing about how you might do this during the course of your four years. You’ll notice, that getting top grades is not on the top of the list. While, of course, important, the other three things go a lot further in your long-term success and satisfaction with school. He also recognizes that anxiety and stress are part of college life for many kids. You are not alone. Some ways to manage anxiety are sleep, exercise, and seeking help when needed.
We wish you the best of luck for the coming year.
